Jio Fiber Speed Test (Asia) — Real Speeds & Fixes
Read a Jio result by connection type. On JioFiber (FTTH) plans are symmetric, so a wired test should sit within about 10% of plan both ways. On AirFiber the result tracks 5G signal and mast load, so take the median of several tests at different times before judging it.
A fast wired figure combined with slow browsing usually means Wi-Fi or DNS, not the fibre link.
JioFiber is India's largest fibre ISP by subscribers, with national coverage and aggressive pricing. AirFiber adds 5G fixed-wireless in cities without local FTTH coverage. Real performance on FTTH is close to plan; AirFiber is signal-dependent.
On this page
- AirFiber inconsistent throughout the day
- JioFiber 1 Gbps showing only 300-400 Mbps on Wi-Fi
- Slow access to specific international sites
- Browsing feels slow while speed tests look fine
Move the antenna to a window facing the nearest mmWave / mid-band mast. Use the Jio app's signal indicator for placement.
Stock router is Wi-Fi 5. Use Ethernet for testing or upgrade to a Wi-Fi 6 mesh.
Some sites peer poorly with Jio. CDN-hosted sites (most modern web apps) are unaffected; smaller origin servers can be slow.
That pattern is usually DNS resolution rather than bandwidth. Try a public resolver on one device and compare page load times before blaming the line.
JioFiber availability is decided at building level — whether fibre has been pulled into your block and whether ports are free on the local splitter. Where FTTH has not arrived, AirFiber is offered instead, and its usable speed depends on the nearest 5G mast and on indoor signal at your window. Check the specific address in the Jio app or coverage form.
Plans and realistic speeds
- JioFiber 30 Mbps: 28-32 Mbps both directions
- JioFiber 100 Mbps: 95-110 Mbps both directions
- JioFiber 300 Mbps: 270-320 Mbps both directions
- JioFiber 1 Gbps: 880-940 Mbps both directions
- AirFiber 100 Mbps: 60-110 Mbps; depends on 5G signal
Common issues and how to fix them
- AirFiber inconsistent throughout the day: Move the antenna to a window facing the nearest mmWave / mid-band mast. Use the Jio app's signal indicator for placement.
- JioFiber 1 Gbps showing only 300-400 Mbps on Wi-Fi: Stock router is Wi-Fi 5. Use Ethernet for testing or upgrade to a Wi-Fi 6 mesh.
- Slow access to specific international sites: Some sites peer poorly with Jio. CDN-hosted sites (most modern web apps) are unaffected; smaller origin servers can be slow.
- Browsing feels slow while speed tests look fine: That pattern is usually DNS resolution rather than bandwidth. Try a public resolver on one device and compare page load times before blaming the line.
Typical latency
- Within India: 5-22 ms
- Mumbai to Singapore: 65-85 ms
- Delhi to Dubai: 55-80 ms
- Mumbai to London: 130-165 ms
- Mumbai to New York: 220-260 ms
Wired vs Wi-Fi checks
- Run three wired tests from the ONT or router LAN port and take the median.
- Repeat on 5 GHz beside the router, then in your normal room, to size the coverage gap.
- For AirFiber, move the unit to a window facing the nearest mast and retest — placement is the main variable.
- Test again in the evening peak and keep both readings if you plan to raise a complaint.
Reading your result against your plan
- JioFiber: symmetric plans, so download and upload should be close. A one-sided result points at your device, cable or Wi-Fi.
- AirFiber: treat any single reading as a sample. Signal strength and time of day move the number far more than router settings.
- 1 Gbps plan through a single gigabit Ethernet port measures around 940 Mbps at best.
- Stock Wi-Fi 5 routers typically deliver a third to a half of a 1 Gbps plan over wireless — expected, not a fault.
