About FastSpeedTest, Team, Mission & Methodology

FastSpeedTest exists to give people a fast, honest, and ad-free measurement of their internet connection. ISPs sell "up to" speeds and most testing tools are bloated with trackers, popups, and inflated numbers. We built a simple tool that runs in any browser and reports what you're actually getting.

FastSpeedTest is maintained by a small editorial team of independent web and network engineers who have collectively spent over 30 years building networking software, ISP backend systems, CDN edge nodes, and consumer networking hardware. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or paid by any ISP, hardware manufacturer, or content delivery network.

Editorial decisions, including which ISPs to feature, which technologies to recommend, and which test methodologies to use, are made independently by the editorial team. We do not accept paid placement.

We use Cloudflare's global edge network as the test endpoint. Cloudflare operates points of presence in over 300 cities, so your test goes to a nearby server, not a server on the other side of the world. The measurement engine performs:

Results are stored only in your browser's localStorage . We do not have a database. We cannot see your IP, your ISP, or your speed.

Every guide on FastSpeedTest is reviewed against published ISP documentation, RFC standards (where applicable), and corroborated by at least one independent measurement. We update articles when underlying facts change, see our editorial policy and corrections policy for the full process.

FastSpeedTest is free to use. We display contextual display ads through Google AdSense to fund hosting, bandwidth and continued development. We do not sell data, do not run affiliate-driven product comparisons, and do not accept paid product reviews. See our privacy policy for details on how ads work.

Most existing tools are slow to load, riddled with ads above the fold, or designed to make ISPs look good. We wanted something we'd actually use ourselves: a fast page, a clear gauge, real numbers, and concrete advice for fixing slow connections.
